Call for artwork deadline extended

Deadline extended due to overwhelming international response!
New postmark deadline May 30, 2009

Just confirmed: San Francisco's favorite UPS driver Dennis D'Ambrogio
will co-curate the exhibition along with guest curator Chris
Fitzpatrick & SF Camerawork curator Chuck Mobley

In lieu of a juried member's exhibition, Camerawork has chosen to
craft a mail art exhibition with a more egalitarian outline and it's
open to all Camerawork members - join now! The idea is to highlight
Camerawork's service to artists by introducing artists to one another
and to international curators.

* HAVE YOUR WORK IN AN EXHIBITION
* SEE YOUR WORK IN A PUBLICATION
* YOUR PERSONAL URL CAN BE FEATURED ON CAMERAWORK'S WEBSITE
* YOU WILL BE INCLUDED IN AN INTERNATIONAL GIFT EXCHANGE
* YOUR WORK COULD BE ON THE COVER OF CAMERAWORK'S JOURNAL

Your work can be lens-based or even photo-referential (ex: text
pieces). Sculpture is great, though perhaps best as origami (or
somehow able to fold down/pop up). Artworks mailed in should reflect
your artist practice in some way: think of it as an advertisement for
yourself!

Contemporary Art, Community & Public Space: Present Tense Panel Discussion Part 1

With the great success of the Center’s biennial exhibition, Present Tense 2009: Chinese Character, in collaboration with Kearny Street Workshop, we would like to engage the community in a casual, lively, and fun panel discussion regarding the relationship between contemporary art, community building, and public space as a venue for the arts. Among other topics, we will discuss the impact on artists, the community audience, and how exhibitions like Present Tense can bring new and provocative energy into the public scene.

Present Tense Biennial 2009 is funded Grants for the Arts, Tower International, United Commercial Bank, Zellerbach and San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development

Present Tense Biennial 2009 would like to thank the following organizations for collaborative support:
