创作涂鸦系列作品的过程和心得

从中国到美国,艺术的表达方式,创作理念,表现技法的差异之大让我深深地震撼。不次于婴儿第一次睁开眼睛仰望这个五彩缤纷的世界,而让这个婴儿久久不能忘记的最瑰丽的色彩就是美国独特的艺术————涂鸦艺术。

涂鸦,与其说是一种艺术形式,不如说是一种文化,一种精神的交流。年轻人对于内心的宣泄,以涂鸦的形式表现出来。可能部分涂鸦色彩单调,表现力很差,甚至谈不上美丽。可是,正是这最原始的,对于内心世界最直接的表现对人们的冲击力才是最强烈的。那种毫无修饰,无过多表现技法的涂鸦,在一瞬间就冲击到了每个观看者的灵魂深处。涂鸦艺术不是那种遥不可及的梦幻,而是深入到普通生活中的每个角落。

涂鸦这种艺术形式不仅深入人心,也遍布旧金山的各个角落。 然而,我突然有种莫名的冲动,就是让这种艺术重新返回画布,我正以一个初生的眼睛看待这个艺术形式,以最单纯的头脑来理解这个总是存在于墙面的大众艺术,以最精炼的笔法来绘制这个只属于出内心深处的艺术。

佛家有句话,翻译过来大概是:“眼睛只能看到事物的表面,而不能看见事物的本质。只有心灵才能感受到事物的本质和真实。”我现在正是在用心去观察,用心去思考,用心去作画。艺术领悟的提高,正是来源于那些对我心灵的震撼。对于这些震撼,我也只能用心去表达。

我并不想去更深层次的理解涂鸦艺术。我只是想用我的画笔来保留住,涂鸦对每个观看者的最初震撼。仅仅是那最初的,也是最深层次的震撼,才是我最感动的,才是我的创作来源。

Contemporary Art, Community & Public Space: Present Tense Panel Discussion Part 1


With the great success of the Center’s biennial exhibition, Present Tense 2009: Chinese Character, in collaboration with Kearny Street Workshop, we would like to engage the community in a casual, lively, and fun panel discussion regarding the relationship between contemporary art, community building, and public space as a venue for the arts. Among other topics, we will discuss the impact on artists, the community audience, and how exhibitions like Present Tense can bring new and provocative energy into the public scene.
