- 張梅駒老師號千里，字子龍，係石璽齋王北岳先生的高足，台灣著名書法篆刻家，公元2000年中國教區曾以其書法篆刻作品作為獻給梵蒂岡教廷「封聖」大典的禮物，張老師教學經驗豐富，從書法理論體系、觀念建構到筆法、結構、章法的講解、分析、示範‧令學習者心領神會，深入堂奧。近十年來報名研習書法者相當熱烈。
來自台灣的書法篆刻家張梅駒老師從2000年開始，每年都會在灣區舉辦一系列演講.在「歷代書法的時代精神與風格」的大框架下, 分別以商、周、秦、漢、三國晉、唐、宋、元、明、清-----各單元,細述各時期的書法風格與演變，開辦以來聽眾反應熱烈。
Mr. Mei-chu Chang was born in Zhe-Jiang Province, China in 1947 and grew up in Taiwan. He is a well known Chinese calligrapher and seal engraver in Taiwan with pen names of Thousand Miles (Qian Li) and Zi-Long. His works in calligraphy and seal engraving were among the gifts sent to Vatican to commemorate the canonization ceremony in the year of 2000.
He has been practicing Chinese calligraphy and studying Chinese classic literature since childhood under his father’s guidance. Later he studied both calligraphy and seal engraving with the famous master, Mr. Bei-Yue Wang who emphasized exploring various calligraphy styles and broadening one’s knowledge by understanding the historical developments of the art and by learning from the classic ancient calligraphy artwork. Mr. Chang is skillful in all styles of Chinese calligraphy as well as in engraving. In addition, he participates in various calligraphy exhibits and is very active in a variety of calligraphy communities and fundraising events for charitable organizations. With the broad experiences, he is very knowledgeable in the calligraphy field.
Mr. Chang has been giving calligraphy-related lectures and classes in the San Francisco Bay Area during summer and winter recesses for almost ten years. His series of lectures entitled, “The Characteristic Spirit and Styles of Chinese Calligraphy from Various Dynasties” have been given at various organizations such as Tzu Chi Foundation, Buddhi Way Association, Chung Tai Zen Center and Northwestern Polytechnic University. They have been well received and become popular. He has also been interviewed at KTSF TV Station to discuss the beauty of Chinese calligraphy. Equipped with many years of practicing and teaching, he offers classes in both calligraphy and seal engraving that are individually oriented and cover both theories and practical details encompassing brush strokes, character structures, composition considerations and demonstration. His lectures offer excellent first steps towards better enjoyment of viewing and practicing this most unique Chinese art form. With many students in the Bay Area, he organized a group called Antiquarian Club of Chinese Calligraphy to foster the exchanges of experiences and ideas related to Chinese calligraphy.
Over the past ten years, the artist has been traveling and visiting various art museums in the U.S. in an attempt to search for the path for his artistic creativity and to seek personal breakthrough. The Qing Dynasty calligrapher and painter Shi Tao said: “While it takes great efforts to deeply emulate other artists, it takes great courage then to emerge as a unique artist.” Beginning in 2008, as a self challenge, Mr. Chang started a series of breakthrough pieces where he designed uniquely different compositions through controlling the distribution of dots, lines, planes and empty space.

「汲古書會」六月八日提供免費示範教學
「汲古書會」張梅駒老師建議帶孩子學習書法，此一世界獨特的藝術，根據專家的研究，中國方塊字是形、音、義的組合。發音是右腦的活動，形、義的記憶是左腦的活動。換言之，學習中文是左右腦一併發展的功能，真是神奇。
時值世界各國正掀起學習中文熱潮的同時，書法更是重要的選項,因此張老師特地於六月八日提供免費示範教學，教孩子寫甲骨文與金文12生肖，生動又有趣。一方面認識中國文字的源起；一方面體驗書法的樂趣。
當然還有其他各種字體的介紹，只要學習得法，孩子們不但學習得興緻高，而且進步神速，將帶給孩子深遠的影響,歡迎家長帶孩子一起來觀摩。張梅駒老師在灣區前後已十年，教學之專業與熱情有口皆碑，相信一定帶給大家不一樣的經驗。

張梅駒的故事--中國書道傳奇縮影
據許慎說文「中者內也」；所以，我們說「心中」就是「內心」。人的內在，都有一顆看不見卻靈動活潑的心，這顆心中國人稱之為「仁」。你吃花生的時候，剝開外殼就看見花生「仁」。
每一個人身上都有這顆「仁」心，許多人會把這顆寶貴的仁心當花生給吃了，卻不知道這顆「仁」是可以發芽成長茁壯的，儘管發芽成長必須經歷一段非常艱辛困苦的階段。
張梅駒一生熱愛中國書道，他在筆墨紙硯的水墨世界裡，像一個自由的孩子，專注認真又快樂忘情地玩著黑與白的元素，任由想像自由飛翔，他的仁心在書道之中自然流動，隨著墨色的濃淡明暗、筆鋒的曲折飛舞，心之仁轉萌為意之芽，透過不同的形式，或篆或隸、或行或草，運行奔騰。那是一種無聲的自我對話，也是中國傳統文化一次又一次的生動映照。

(Panel Discussion) Paintings, Posters and Propaganda: Artists Reflect and Connect with Community

The Chinese Culture Center and Kearny Street Workshop invite you to join in on a discussion among five artists about the development of their art practices, their influences and how they work within their communities.
Nancy Hom is an artist, writer, organizer, and arts administrator with over 30 years of experience in the non-profit arts. As an artist, curator, and organizer, she has worked in many communities in San Francisco, including the South of Market, Manilatown, Chinatown, Japantown, Western Addition, and the Mission. Nancy served as executive director of Kearny Street Workshop from 1995-2003.
Leland Wong, artist, illustrator, and photographer, is best known for the silkscreen posters he has designed and produced for more than thirty five years, particularly the series of posters he produced annually for the Nihonmachi Street Fair from 1974-2004. He is the owner of A-Town Graphics, a one-man photography and graphic design business.
Lenore Chinn’s paintings explore the super-realistic depiction of a wide spectrum of people of color, lesbians and same sex couples. Her portraits documenting the historical evolution of San Francisco’s queer community challenge the social conventions that currently constitute the racialized order of things. Lenore is a founding member of Lesbians in the Visual Arts, Queer Cultural Center and the Asian American Women Artists Association.
Choppy Oshiro, graphic designer and illustrator, created the promotional material for the Chinese Culture Center’s exhibition Icons of Presence: Asian American Activist Art. Her work was recently featured in Dirty Work: artists eye domestic labor at Kearny Street Workshop.
Richard Godinez is an ex-political cartoonist who creates large-scale oil paintings and pastels that protest imperialism and globalization. Richard is an associate professor of visual art at Diablo Valley College.
Robynn Takayama (moderator) is an award-winning audio producer. She was segment producer for Crossing East, a Peabody-awarded radio documentary on Asian immigration. Her art projects have been presented through video, web, and gallery installation in San Francisco, Berkeley, Los Angeles, and Chicago.
