About Me (bio) 個人簡曆:
Ming Franz, a thrice national competition winner, was born in Taiwan. As a child she was fortunate to obtain training from masters of traditional Chinese painting. An adept student, Ming began to receive numerous awards
When she moved to the United States, Ming immersed herself in the world of Western art while maintaining her bond with Chinese arts. Ming is a hiker who finds inspiration in the beauty of the mountains, she had been searching for a unique medium to express her appreciation of nature. Seeing the Splash paintings of world-renowned artist Chang Dai-Chien was an epiphany. She began experimenting with the process while studying under Master Hau Pei-Jen and Professor Arthur Kao of San Jose State. Over the years Ming has incorporated her own innovative style of landscape painting that combines Chinese splash ink and Western watercolor techniques and brings out the best of the East and West. She have won prizes from the Los Gatos Art Association and Triton Art Museum. Two of her paintings were was published in Splash 9 in July of 2006. One of Ming's painting, entitled Iao Valley, Maui, will be featured in the upcoming Splash 10.
Ming lives in New Mexico with her husband Ben where she continues her art and is also teaching classes in splash ink and Chinese brush painting. Currently she is a member of the New Mexico Watercolor Society, where she has won an award for her artwork. She is also a member of Rio Grande Art Association. She will have an exhibit of Splash ink paintings at Arts Alliance of New Mexico in month of February 2008. Her latest illustrated book and instructional DVD,
" Splash Ink with Watercolor, Looking East, Painting West ", are an accumulation of many years of devotion to her craft. You may view her paintings at her website " www.mingfranzstudio.com "
