- Larry Lee is a multimedia artist, independent curator and writer who teaches in the First Year Program and Art History, Theory and Criticism at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Illinois at Chicago and his Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His work has been exhibited at various galleries in Chicago and New York as well as the SpaceLab in Cleveland, Diverseworks in Houston, Janette Kennnedy Gallery at the University of Texas in Dallas, ArtSpace in New Haven and Free Gallery in Glasgow, Scotland.

Contemporary Art, Community & Public Space: Present Tense Panel Discussion Part 1
With the great success of the Center’s biennial exhibition, Present Tense 2009: Chinese Character, in collaboration with Kearny Street Workshop, we would like to engage the community in a casual, lively, and fun panel discussion regarding the relationship between contemporary art, community building, and public space as a venue for the arts. Among other topics, we will discuss the impact on artists, the community audience, and how exhibitions like Present Tense can bring new and provocative energy into the public scene.
Present Tense Biennial 2009 is funded Grants for the Arts, Tower International, United Commercial Bank, Zellerbach and San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development
Present Tense Biennial 2009 would like to thank the following organizations for collaborative support:
