Fang Ling-An is a Chinese-American artist born in Taipei (Taiwan) and now living in Chicago. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from both Temple University, Tyler School of Art (BFA, 2003) and the University of Illinois in Chicago (MFA, 2005). Her work has been exhibited in numerous national and international institutions, including Artspace (New Haven, CT), DIVA International Video Art Fair (Miami, FL), City of Nanjing Art Center for Painting and Sculptures (China), CAMAC Centre D'art (France) and the Media Art Festival at the Armenian Center for Contemporary Art (Armenia).

In 1998 Fang arrived in the United States to attend Art School. During her BFA studies she increased working experience in the field of art both at the University of Georgia and Temple University. She decided to pursue her MFA degree in Chicago as the city has
long been a major center for art education. Here she further enhanced her training as a sculptor by specializing in various traditional and modern materials and techniques such as mixed media installations.

Starting in 1999 and until this day, Fang has participated in a series of group exhibitions that were displayed both in the US as well as on various international locations. Shortly after starting these projects, Fang also decided to display solo exhibitions, which included Netting Shadows (Tyler School of Art, 2001); 52 Beats and Slow Down, Art in Progress (both displayed at PE 107 Gallery, Elkins Park, 2003); Memories don't remember Memories, the Circle or the Square was the Earth or the Sky? (Artspace, New Haven,
2006); Settle (CAMAC Centre d'Art, France, 2006 and Dou-E (Taipei National University of Fine Arts, Taiwan, 2007).

Finally, from 3 May – 12 July 2009, Fang's most recent installation The Whole World Celebrates Together will be exhibited at the Jackman Goldwasser Catwalk Gallery at the Hyde Park Art Center, after she spent over 3 years developing and doing research on the

A highlight in her career was working at the studio of Kerry James Marshall from 2006- 2007. Kerry James Marshall is a well-known artist born in Birmingham, Alabama who previously taught at the School of Art and Design at the University of Illinois in Chicago.
Since their first meeting Marshall has continuously played an important and influential role in the development of Fang's art: not only has he provided input and support to her work, but both artists still work together on various projects while Marshall has also
become a collector of Fang's work.
